Great brews and exceptional espresso in a cramped but advanced showroom bolted on to a world famous roaster. You'll need to drive out of town to get there, but it's well worth it for any September fan (or soon to be).

Subtext Coffee Roasters

A variety of seasonal brews, and a feature espresso served by the same people that roast the coffee. Subtext focuses on putting the producer front and centre, so don't hesitate to ask them about where the coffee comes from.

The largest espresso menu we've ever seen, pulled on a vintage spring lever machine. Often so good that we order a second. Supposedly the filter is great too, but we haven't had it because we were too busy working through the espresso menu.

Oidé Coffee

Great milk drinks. Often two options on the bar, but ordering their standard offering is often the way to go.

Lucero Canteen

Outstanding milk drinks with flavours synonymous with Dak. We recommend ordering a "one and one" to try a shot with and without milk.

Ethica Coffee Roasters

Respectable ☕ · Toronto

A beautiful location with friendly staff and consistent drinks. Their espresso tends to lean funky so we'd recommend milk. Their speciality drinks are often great.

Café Olympico

Respectable ☕ · Montreal

Be warned, unlike the rest of the list, this coffee is traditionally roasted. Come here to be out-cooled by the baristas, people watch, and live the good life.

A chain of cafes with reliably thick and juicy shots.

Dreamy

Notably the home of the Canadian Roasting Society. Worth a stop to check out the roasters, have a quick coffee and then continue your walk along the water.

Iced americano. They're a decent roaster too.
